A student 0r pupil is a learner 0r s0me0ne wh0 attends an educati0nal instituti0n. In Britain th0se attending university are termed “students”. In the United States, and m0re recently als0 in Britain, the term “student” is applied t0 b0th categ0ries.

In its widest use, student is used f0r any0ne wh0 is learning, including mid-career adults wh0 are taking v0cati0nal educati0n 0r returning t0 university. When speaking ab0ut learning 0utside an instituti0n, “student” is als0 used t0 refer t0 s0me0ne wh0 is learning a t0pic 0r wh0 is “a student 0f” a certain t0pic 0r pers0n.
